At Martins Care Support Foundation, we are dedicated to transforming lives and empowering communities. Our non-profitable, non-political organization is driven by a passion for supporting orphans, the less privileged, and underserved individuals in society. Together, we strive to create a brighter future through impactful programs in education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and humanitarian services for the needy.
Many children and adolescents today aren’t enrolled in primary and secondary education. Even those who are enrolled, for many of them, schooling does not lead to learning – and this was before COVID-19 disrupted learning. Now, there is an urgent need to rededicate ourselves to education.
Every day, many children go to school on an empty stomach. Thus, they are unable to learn adequately due to hunger. Our school feeding activities are beneficial for the physical, mental, and psychosocial development of school-age children and adolescents from poor communities.
There are multitudes of homeless children & adolescents in Nigeria. We are working to solve this big challenge of child homelessness in Nigeria; the children are at risk of abuse, starvation and diseases due to sleeping on the streets. Our street children outreach projects will help eradicate child homelessness in Nigeria.
We advocate for, and support practical activities to promote healthy living and child survival in Nigeria. We work with the federal, state, and local governments, along with local and international organisations to tackle maternal and child health issues in Nigeria.
Every day a lot of children, both at home or on the streets, face a variety of rights violations, from sexual abuse, exploitation and violence. These abuses constitute a grave human rights crisis. We are working to ensure that the rights of children are respected and fulfilled.
Poverty eradication has always been a central development policy of every successive government in Nigeria. However, all these interventions have failed to achieve the objectives for which they were established. It is against this background that we are working on the emancipation of the poor.
The disadvantage of Poverty
Poverty has negative impacts on children’s health, social, emotional and cognitive development, behaviour and educational outcomes. Children growing up in poverty experience constant harsh living conditions and a wide range of health problems, including poor nutrition, chronic disease and mental health problems.
